Civil Society in Brunei Darussalam
There are NGOs and CSOs that work within the education sector of Brunei, though they often work in it indirectly, or as a consequence of work on broader themes. For example the Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam has worked on promoting women’s right to education, and has succeeded in improving the female literacy rate, boosting their participation in university education (where they actually outnumber men), promoting the opportunities for female graduates, and educating women about issues such as abuse, reproductive health, public and political life and maternal health.
